Mercury launches new line of small outboard engines

Engine manufacturer Mercury Marine is launching a new line of 25 and 30 horsepower outboard motors that come in several models. Ideal for small boats such as dinghies or fishing boats, they are also lighter and easier to maintain.

4 new 4-stroke outboard engines

Mercury Marine introduces a new generation of 25 and 30 horsepower 4-stroke outboard engines with a 500cc 3-cylinder powerhead and electronic fuel injection. These new models are lighter, faster and easier to maintain, and also feature Mercury SmartCraft digital technology to connect to digital and mobile devices. This instrumentation displays all engine data for easy diagnosis.

The new engine range includes 4 models:

  • 25 and 30 horses Four Stroke
  • 25 SeaPro horses
  • 25 horsepower ProKicker

Their weight has been reduced by 16% compared to the previous generation, with a base weight of 60 kg.

Small power for dinghies and fishing boats

The Four Stroke and SeaPro models are suitable, according to Mercury, for V-bottom utility boats and aluminum flat-bottom boats from 11 to 16 feet, or 3.4 m to 4.9 m, inflatable boats, composite and fiberglass micro-skiffs from 11 to 13 feet, or 3.4 to 4 m, and shallow V-bottom boats. The introduction of the ProKicker addresses the need for better drag control for boats in the 26 to 39 foot (7.9 to 11.9 m) range that operate in the rough waters often found in northern Europe. It is then a relay of a much higher engine power.

Many options

These engines are available with electric or manual start, with a more ergonomic tiller or remote controls, in manual or electric power trim with propeller or jet propulsion. The models with manual steering are equipped with a tiller of almost 58.4 cm.
