The marine equipment brand Spinlock will almost double its production area in Cowes. This project is part of the growth of the famous British brand and its diversification into various marine activities.

40% more production area

UK-based Spinlock has announced the expansion of its yachting equipment production capacity on the Isle of Cowes, the birthplace of the brand and global yachting. New buildings, located directly adjacent to the existing factory, will increase the site's area by 40%. The new buildings will allow Spinlock to source and store more materials, acquire new tooling to bring new manufacturing steps in-house and increase the volume of products leaving its Cowes facility.

Responding to a growing demand

The choice to invest in this new industrial tool is the result of strong demand and Spinlock's diversification strategy, which reaches an export rate of 85%. "This action will help us meet significant growth in demand in these new markets, such as marine leisure, fishing or commercial marine, as well as new countries. We have been looking for additional space for some time and are fortunate to secure this area adjacent to our existing production facility. Over the past 12 months, with a steady growth in our production team, coupled with investment in new machinery and tools, this has enabled us to maintain good lead times, improve efficiency and where possible counteract rising production costs", says Chris Hill, Spinlock's Managing Director.

In the summer of 2022, Spinlock will also begin the redevelopment of the former Cowes police station to house its design, marketing and sales teams.
