Sunbrella, a manufacturer of fabrics for upholstery and boat fittings, has developed a range of synthetic leathers called Sunbrella Horizon. A product that brings the brand's expertise in the nautical field to synthetic leather for ultra-resistant products.

Bringing Sunbrella's expertise to synthetic leather

The Sunbrella brand has been known for many years for its expertise in marine fabrics. Its solution-dyed acrylic fabrics are found on many boats and used by many boat saddlers and exterior boat protection manufacturers, but the manufacturer was absent from the synthetic leather market. "We launched in 2020 with the creation of Sunbrella Horizon with the desire to complete our line. Synthetic leather is very suitable for small boats under 10 meters. It requires less maintenance. We wanted to bring Sunbrella's strengths to this segment," summarizes Arnaud Dalle of Sunbrella.

Resistance to UV and bacteria

To this end, the Sunbrella teams have applied their textile know-how. The brand guarantees its synthetic leather for 5 years for UV resistance, like its classic upholstery fabrics. "We have a UV resistance superior to the market, using color pigments identical to our textiles" explains Arnaud Dalle.

To combat the pink stains that often appear due to bacteria, Sunbrella has developed a specific product. "We guarantee the material for 3 years against these bacteria, reimbursing material and labor, proof of our confidence in the product," emphasizes the Sunbrella sales representative.

The Sunbrella Horizon is also very cold resistant, without cracking at temperatures as low as -30°C.

Cockpit seats that keep their shape

The dimensional stability of Sunbrella Horizon synthetic leather is the other advantage of the product. Thanks to its four-dimensional knitting and four-dimensional stretch, it holds its shape. "We won't see waves and dips appear over time on the boat cushions. We'll keep straight shapes. It is also an advantage to work it easily without making folds" says Arnaud Dalle.

For the comfort of boaters, Sunbrella has worked on the feel of the material. A soft touch effect sets it apart from classic synthetic leathers, making it more pleasant to the touch, close to the feel of a textile.

Easy to maintain

The Sunbrella Horizon does not require any special care. It can be washed with conventional products and even resists bleach without discoloring.

Available in 23 colors, its quality and durability make it an interesting investment to enhance the value of your boat over time and potentially increase its resale value.
