The BRP Group sets up in France to design the yachts of tomorrow

BRP, owner of Alumacraft, sets up in Sophia Antipolis

The Canadian group BRP will set up a design office on the Côte d'Azur to develop its new land and sea mobility concepts. The move is part of the motorboat, jetski and marine engine manufacturer's strategy of innovation and transition.

A BRP design office in France

After launching its first design and innovation center named Laurent Beaudoin in Quebec in September 2008, the BRP group will open a new site in Europe. The design office will be located in Sophia Antipolis on the French Riviera. The opening is scheduled for December 2022.

Like the Canadian site, which has attracted about 100 designers, recruitment is underway for the new office, which will employ a multi-skilled team of draftsmen and product and transportation designers.

Thinking about sustainable mobility

The roadmap of the new team and its dedicated manager is focused on the ecological transition. Concept studies will be conducted around sustainable mobility. When the Evinrude brand was discontinued, the BRP group announced a future outboard engine called Project Ghost, the details of which have yet to be revealed. Projects around electric engines are also being studied.

"We are extremely proud of this new design studio. It will allow us to continue to diversify our human resources and attract top European design professionals. I'm sure that Sophia Antipolis will be a perfect place for inspiration, which will stimulate our teams to create extremely innovative concepts," said Denys Lapointe, Vice President, Design, Innovation and Creative Services.
