Alliance Marine acquires Marathon Leisure

France's leading yachting equipment distributor, Alliance Marine, has announced the completion of a new external growth operation. The group has signed the acquisition, for an undisclosed amount, of the British company Marathon Leisure. The company, founded in 1992 by Tim Millinder in Portsmouth, employs 16 people. Working exclusively on a BtoB basis, it has 14,000 customer accounts, both in new and refit shipyards and among hardware stores. The management of the company by its founder remains unchanged.

To complete the offer on the strategic British yachting market

With this acquisition, the Alliance Marine group, already present in the United Kingdom through the manufacturers Ocean Safety and Typhoon acquired in October 2018 is strengthening its presence. Through Marathon Leisure, it has a network and infrastructure for the distribution of its brands, alongside those already in the Marathon Leisure catalog. The 890 m² premises, in the heart of the Solent, the Mecca of British boating, now ensure the distribution of a portfolio of 7,000 references.

Jean-Paul Roche, President of Alliance Marine, underlines the group's interest in the British market. "Our strategy is based on both organic growth and acquisitions, with a strong focus on international development. The merger with Marathon Leisure is a major step forward, positioning our Group at the forefront of the British market, one of the most attractive markets in Europe. We already have a strong presence there with Ocean Safety and Typhoon and, with the arrival of a distribution expert in the group, the circle is complete."
