Agreement on minimum wages in the nautical industry

A branch agreement on the revaluation of minimum wages has been signed in the nautical sector. The Federation of Nautical Industries sees it as a success in the uncertain economic context of 2021 for the yachting industry.

Revaluation of the minimum wages of the nautical industry in 2021

The Federation of Nautical Industries has announced the signing at the end of May 2021 of an agreement with employee representatives, concerning minimum wages in the branch. Within the framework of the mandatory annual joint negotiations, the representatives of the companies in the yachting sector have agreed with some of the trade unions on an increase in minimum wages. Only the CFDT and CFE-CGC unions have signed the document with FIN. The text comes into force for companies affiliated to the branch from 1 June 2021. They have one month to update their accounting software and take into account the change for the June payroll. As a reminder, the Federation of Nautical Industries estimates that 80% of the companies in the sector are attached to the collective agreement of the sector. The number of employees is estimated at more than 43 000.

An increase despite an uncertain context before the nautical season

The employers' union sees this signing as a success, while the economy remains cautious about the possible consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic. "We have achieved this despite the uncertain economic situation, although we hope, as the summer approaches, that it brings its share of navigation and activity as it did last year, in 2020. This is a moderate, but not insignificant, revaluation that concerns all categories of employees. In particular, it is more important for the first two categories of executives, in line with what we committed to in 2011 when we revised the grid and reduced the number of steps. This makes up the difference for these two categories. This is also in line with the revaluation of the SMIC on January 1st 2021 (Editor's note: the first step of the worker-employee scale in the nautical branch is identical to the national SMIC level)" explains Louis-Guillaume Sabatier, in charge of legal and social issues at the Federation of Nautical Industries.
