Besenzoni: Gateway specialist goes electric

Besenzoni launches its 100% electric LaPasserella footbridge

Besenzoni is a reference in the field of retractable access gangways for pleasure boats and yachts. With the arrival of an electric range, it is a small revolution in a market dominated by hydraulic solutions.

A small revolution for Besenzoni

Born as a shipyard in 1967, the Besenzoni company quickly became an equipment manufacturer, known for its production of gangways for access to the boat, fixed to the transom. As early as 1985, the first remote-controlled hydraulic gangway became the iconic product of the Italian brand, today a specialist in hydraulic accessories on board pleasure boats. By launching its first all-electric, hydraulic-free gangway in 2020, christened LaPasserella, the equipment manufacturer took an important symbolic turn.

An "ecological" gateway for pleasure boats

With its new telescopic bridge, Besenzoni is claiming an ecological choice that it justifies with several arguments:

  • The absence of oil avoids the risk of pollution and limits the need for hydraulic hoses and plastic tubes.
  • Since it does not require an electro-hydraulic power unit, the installation of the gangway is lighter. The gain of 30 kg improves the boat's performance
  • Electrical installation in 12V or 24V DC consumes less energy than hydraulic solutions, resulting in lighter, smaller section cables. The on-board network is less stressed.

In addition to these environmental aspects, Besenzoni emphasises the quieter character of the electric walkway. The compactness of the solution frees up space in the engine room. Maintenance of the electrical system is limited, reducing the cost of the gangway throughout its life.

The rusticity and power of hydraulics on board ships seems to be gradually losing ground in the face of progress in marine electricity and its reliability.
