The biggest meeting place for composite materials

JEC World has established itself as the leading trade fair for composite construction. The 2020 edition, initially scheduled for March 3-5, will be held from May 12-14 at the Paris-Nord Villepinte exhibition space. As in 2019, the organisers anticipate more than 43,000 visitors from over 100 countries. More than 1,300 exhibitors, representing all aspects of the composite industry, from fibre and resin producers to designers and car and aircraft manufacturers, will occupy 28 regional pavilions covering 76,000 m▓.

Recycling and bio-composites in the spotlight

As has been the case for several years now, the topic of biocomposites is gaining momentum. It is addressed in numerous conferences, illustrated by concrete cases and visits to the bio-materials cluster.

Waste management, reuse and recovery in the composite industry are also highlighted on the conference area stage. Experts will come to discuss zero waste approaches, the circular economy for composites or the use of used bottles as a source of energy.

The main events

True to its thematic organization, the JEC will offer 4 exhibition areas, the Innovation Planets, to promote products made in the main application areas of composite materials. Aero and Space, Mobility, including Automotive and Rail, Construction and Industry, Sport and LifeStyle. Boating should be divided between the world industry, which includes Shipbuilding and Sport for beach equipment and accessories.

An exhibition on 50 years of composite materials will retrace the evolution of know-how since the 1970s. It will be complemented by a lecture by Professor Ignaas Verpoest, on Thursday 5 March at 11.30 am, opening on his vision of the future of the sector.

Well-known speakers are also expected, including Thomas Coville and his technical director from the Sodebo Voile Team, Elie Canivenc and Franky Zapata, "the flying man", to talk about crossing the Channel on his flyboard.

The space dedicated to employment and training, offering workshops and visits to students, is renewed for the 2nd time at JEC World 2020.
