Uber announces the rollout of a boat rental service in Europe, with implementation scheduled for June 2026 on several seaboards, including the French Mediterranean.
A rental offer integrated into the Uber application
The Uber Boat service makes it possible to reserve a unit directly from the application, already used for transport and delivery. This development is in line with the company's strategy of consolidating its services within a single interface. Users now have access to land mobility, catering and now boating.
The launch was made official at the GO GET 2026 event held in New York at the end of April 2026.
A partnership with Click and Boat
Uber relies on Click and Boat, a European platform specializing in boat rentals. This partnership gives Uber access to a fleet of around 50,000 boats.
The offer covers different types of craft, from motorboats to sailboats, with or without a skipper, depending on the configurations proposed by the platform. This model is based on digital intermediation, with no fleet of its own operated by Uber.
The service will be available in several French cities, including Marseille, Nice, Cannes, Saint Tropez and Toulon.
In all, some twenty European destinations are involved. In addition to France, the service will be deployed in Italy, Spain, Portugal and Croatia. These areas correspond to the main pleasure boating basins in Europe, with significant seasonal activity.
A strategy of service diversification
Uber is continuing to expand its services beyond ground transportation. The platform seeks to centralize several uses in a single application.
Agreements have been signed with tourism players such as Expedia Group and Accor, to integrate accommodation as well. With Uber Boat, boating joins this range of services accessible from a single digital tool.
