An infrastructure to serve the maritime territory
Located on the Quai des Seychelles, at the interface between the town and the port, this project is in line with the regional plan-guide presented in 2022. This document, drawn up in partnership with the town of Concarneau, the Syndicat mixte pêche-plaisance de Cornouaille and Concarneau Cornouaille Agglomération, already aimed to reconvert this port area. The challenge is to meet both the saturation of existing spaces and the increasing maintenance needs of both pleasure craft and small professional vessels.
This future technical area will include new platforms and the installation of lifting equipment adapted to large units. The operation is designed to optimize use, while ensuring the urban and environmental integration of the development.

Meeting the growing needs of yachting professionals
Originally supported by the Association des Métiers de la Plaisance Concarnoise, the project is aimed at two types of user. On the one hand, yachtsmen, in particular owners of cruising yachts or speedboats over 12 meters long, who struggle to find slots for annual work or refits. On the other hand, the local inshore fleet of sailors and fishermen, who have regular maintenance needs, and who don't always have the appropriate infrastructures at their disposal. The aim of the future technical site is therefore to pool equipment to improve efficiency and quality of service.
A project anchored in an environmental and circular logic

One of the major aspects of the project concerns sediment management. Current operation of the boat elevator is hampered by an accumulation of marine material beneath the infrastructure. The Region wishes to make the most of this sediment, by integrating it into the embankments of the future development. This approach also includes the use of excavated material found in the vicinity of the dry dock. The idea is to transform materials classified as waste into useful resources for the construction site, in a circular economy applied to the port sector.
Three studies to frame public investment
To secure this large-scale operation, the Brittany Region has undertaken three additional studies. The first, of a socio-economic nature, was entrusted to the Blue-Arches et Wiinch consortium. It aims to assess the economic impact of the infrastructure, in particular its contribution to the development of yachting in Concarneau. The second, more technical, is being carried out by Artelia. It will establish the feasibility of the project, the constraints on the reuse of extracted materials and the most appropriate construction methods. Finally, a geotechnical campaign, entrusted to Ginger CEBTP, is underway to characterize the nature of the soils and identify any development constraints.

The first field investigations will begin in the coming weeks. They will mobilize floating equipment to probe the port area and collect the data required for the design study.
The development of a mixed-use maintenance area in Concarneau is part of a coherent strategy for structuring Brittany's nautical territory. By reconciling technical, environmental and economic requirements, this pilot project could serve as a benchmark for other coastal ports facing the same challenges of saturation, ecological transition and balance between yachting and professional maritime activities.
