From September 13 to 22, 2025, the Southampton International Boat Show (SIBS) returns for its 56th edition with a redesigned layout and a strategy focused on the visitor experience, ecological transition and international openness.

British Marine, organizer of SIBS, is gradually transforming the show to position it as a benchmark event on a European scale. Under the banner "See it. Try it. Buy it." the new edition focuses on active public participation, with real-life demonstrations, sea trials and immersive activities.

The infrastructures will be adapted to this new approach: a floating footbridge will be installed to facilitate access between the marina and the onshore exhibition areas, and an enlarged central zone will be dedicated to nautical animations accessible to the general public.

With over 350 boats expected afloat, the show's temporary marina remains one of SIBS' major assets. Last year, over 650 exhibitors took part in the event. The organizers are aiming to stabilize at this level, while seeking to broaden the range represented: sailboats, multihulls, runabouts, premium powerboats, not forgetting electric and hybrid units.

Exhibitor selection will focus on quality of presentation and diversity of brands represented. The reorganized layout of the show will highlight the major British and European brands, while offering greater visibility to new entrants.

Innovation and sustainability at the heart of the 2025 edition

In line with industry expectations, the show is strengthening its positioning around the ecological transition. Several areas will be devoted to technological solutions for sustainable navigation, including electric motors, bio-based materials, hydrogen generation and equipment for reducing environmental impact.

British Marine is also announcing a greater effort to manage the show's waste and reduce its carbon footprint, with preferred local suppliers and optimized facility logistics.

With over 92,000 visitors in 2024, the Southampton Boat Show now aims to attract a more international audience. The 2025 edition aims to attract more visitors from Europe and the Mediterranean basin. Efforts have been announced in terms of multilingual communication and welcoming foreign professionals.

Collaboration is underway with several European boating federations, in conjunction with IFBSO (International Federation of Boat Show Organisers), of which SIBS is an active member.

A strategic event for brands

For shipyards, equipment manufacturers and distributors, the Southampton boat show remains a key event in the autumn boating season, at the crossroads of the British, North European and North American markets. It precedes autumn shows such as Genoa, Cannes and La Rochelle, and often provides an opportunity to launch the latest innovations before the winter season.
