A 4th specialty for Kerboat Services
Kerboat Services was founded in 2015 by Sébastien David. Initially aimed at private yachtsmen, the company specializing in boat cleaning has gradually diversified its offer and its customer spectrum, while developing a network throughout the French coastline. It is taking a new step forward by creating in January 2021 its activity dedicated to the world of ocean racing, called Kerboat Services Offshore Sailing. "We can classify boats into 4 main categories: pleasure boats, yachts, workboats and offshore racing. We were present in the first 3 areas, but I was missing this 4th offer to the particular attention of this world that I meet every day at the Base" explains the company manager based in the port of Lorient, in the heart of the Breton ecosystem of offshore racing.
A need for communication specific to ocean racing
Kerboat Services has already provided several services for skippers or shipyards in the competitive sailing sector, but Sébastien David identified the need for a message specially designed for this field. "We have already worked for Pierre Leboucher or Eric Péron on the Solitaire du Figaro so that they have a clean boat at the start of the race. We have also done thermobagging for the transport of the central hull of the trimaran under construction by François Gabart and MerConcept or for the external wintering of a Figaro 3. If some may be afraid to miss a technical defect or a breakdown if they subcontract the cleaning before a race, we can also intervene before christenings or press events, or for example on RIBs and accompanying boats in heat-bagging or cleaning. The work is not really different from the shipyards or the yachtsman, but the context is different" summarizes Sébastien David.
The Vendée Globe as a launching pad
To promote its Offshore Sailing offer, Kerboat Services is making a special launch offer for the Vendée Globe. The cleaning of sailing boats returning from the solo round the world race is the opportunity for the company to make its entry into the market official.
