Japanese engine manufacturer Yanmar Marine is reorganizing its distribution model in France. End of the partnership with Fenwick and development of a dealer network are on the menu.

Direct distribution of Yanmar marine engines

The engine manufacturer Yanmar Marine, one of the main suppliers of engines for yachting, particularly on board sailboats, has announced that it will resume direct distribution of its products on the French market. He ended a 50-year partnership with Fenwick, which began in 1967. The marine propulsion specialist is also a distributor of Tohatsu, Aquamot and Cox outboard engines and Variprop propellers. The European headquarters of Yanmar Marine International BV, based in the Netherlands, will assume responsibility for engine distribution in France, with the support of Yanmar France, based in La Roche-sur-Yon and Yanmar Europe BV. An exception will be made for the Bénéteau Group, which will continue to deal directly with Japan, due to order volumes.

The new organisation will take effect on 1 September 2018. Previously placed orders will be processed by Fenwick SAS for deliveries before 30 November 2018.

Creation of a dealer network

Yanmar Marine wants to build a strong dealer network across France. The Japanese marine engine brand wants to create a more direct relationship with its customers and be able to provide a quick response with short processing times. It claims to"increase the overall level of customer satisfaction, and thereby further improve Yanmar's reputation as a partner of choice. The new dealer network is expected to be operational by the end of 2018.
