JEC World 2018, the composite in all its forms, from boating to space

Espace Composites in Action at JEC World 2017

JEC World 2018 will open its doors. Some information about the world meeting of composite construction, an inspiration for the nautical world.

The inescapable of the composite

The JEC World is without a doubt the leading trade fair for composite construction. The 2018 exhibition will be held from 6 to 8 March at the Paris-Nord Villepinte exhibition space. The organizers expect more than 43,000 visitors from over 100 countries. 1350 exhibitors, from fibre and resin manufacturers to designers and car and aircraft manufacturers, will be spread over an area of 68,000 m².

The small thumb boating market

According to the organizers' 2017 statistics, the world market for composite products represents 83 billion euros for a volume of 11.23 M T. Continued growth of 5% is expected by 2021. If boating was a pioneering industry in the use of composite materials, the important sectors of automobile or rail transport, energy and construction now support innovation. The share of exhibitors directly linked to the maritime world has become smaller, but the JEC World remains a must for yachting professionals who wish to follow the advances of composite technologies.

The main events

As every year, 4 thematic islands, the Innovation Planets, will highlight products produced in each application. The Aero, the Automobile and the Construction are still present, while the Better Living area, which used to house boating, is disappearing in favour of the"Make It Real" area dedicated to design.

Many conferences are scheduled. Of particular note was the"Biocomposites, a new industrial deal" cycle on the morning of 8 March.

JEC Editions will also launch their book"Composites in flax and hemp fibre, a market reality: Organic solutions for industry."
