The French distributor VDM-Reya is expanding its range of electrical equipment for the recreational boating industry with the launch of AquaAmp products on the French market. The agreement provides for the exclusive distribution of wired and wireless charging systems developed by the Tampa, Florida-based manufacturer.
Growing demand for in-flight charging
The use of smartphones, tablets, and connected devices has become widespread in boating. These devices are used for navigation, weather forecasting, and communication. Powering them has therefore become an important consideration on board, particularly on open boats or those exposed to the elements.
AquaAmp develops charging systems designed for marine environments. The equipment is engineered to withstand water and humidity, two factors that often limit the use of conventional chargers in the boating industry.
Qi2 certification as a technical selling point
According to VDM-Reya, AquaAmp is currently the only manufacturer offering fully waterproof, Qi2-certified 25-watt wireless fast chargers. This standard aims to improve energy efficiency and compatibility between mobile devices and charging systems.
For AquaAmp, this agreement provides direct access to the French market through VDM-Reya?s sales network of shipyards, dealers, and installers. For the distributor, this new product line complements its portfolio of electrical and connectivity solutions for recreational boats.
