Wichard Group acquires equipment specialist Ronstan

French yachting equipment group Wichard announces the acquisition of Australian group Ronstan. This first international acquisition completes Wichard's range of fittings and marks a major step in its development.

Wichard acquires the Ronstan Group

The Wichard Group, which already owns a number of well-known rigging brands, announces that it has signed an agreement to acquire the Australian company Ronstan on November 8, 2023. The Australian brand Ronstan, along with its subsidiaries Andersen and Frederiksen, joins the portfolio of the French group, which already owns not only Wichard, but also Profurl and Facnor furlers, Sparcraft and Lorima masts, Peguet quick links and Courant ropemaking.

A complete and sizeable group

With this acquisition, the Wichard Group, which already has an international presence via a subsidiary in the United States, makes its first acquisition outside France. Following the transaction, Wichard now employs more than 550 people. Sales reach 100 million euros.

The Wichard Group becomes the owner of Ronstan International Pty Ltd, which remains the parent company of all Ronstan Group companies in Australia and Scandinavia. It is supported by the existing management team, many of whom become shareholders in the Wichard Group.

With the acquisition of Ronstan, Wichard expands its offering to include nearly complete deck plans, including winches and deck rails, which had been missing from its catalog. The two entities share common markets, not only in the boating sector, their core business, but also in industry and safety.
