Piero Formenti appointed President of Confindustria Nautica until 2029

Piero Formenti, founder of the Zar Formenti RIB boatyard and a long-standing player in the Italian nautical industry, has been appointed president of Confindustria Nautica, the French-speaking FIN, for a four-year term. He is the first president from the "small" boat segment.

A career rooted in the Italian nautical industry

Piero Formenti has headed the Italian shipyard Zar Formenti since 1979, and is a well-known figure in the RIB sector. His involvement with Confindustria Nautica dates back to 2008, and he has been vice-president since 2019. He has also chaired the European Boating Industry (EBI) for two consecutive terms (2015-2019).

His appointment to the presidency of Confindustria Nautica, made official by the association's General Council, will be ratified by the General Meeting on May 16, 2025. He thus becomes the first president in the organization's history to specifically represent small shipyards.

A unified vision of the industry

In his first statements, Piero Formenti stressed the importance of giving a voice to the entire Italian yachting value chain. "1097"1288"1132"1391"", he declared.

Its program will focus on a number of priorities: innovation, ecological transition, revitalization of the domestic market, regulatory simplification and attractiveness to the younger generation.

Support for Made in Italy and the Genoa Motor Show

Piero Formenti also intends to strengthen the corporate culture among members, while supporting the quality and excellence of Made in Italy. He will continue his regulatory lobbying efforts at national and European level.

One of the organization's main missions under his presidency will be to continue promoting the Genoa International Boat Show, while developing professional training and maritime culture among the general public.
