Tiwal celebrates its 1500th boat

The inflatable dinghy specialist Tiwal has delivered its 1500th boat. The SME, created in Vannes in 2013, states that it now generates 72% of its turnover from exports. The United States has seen sales triple to become Tiwal's leading market, where the company achieves 30% of its turnover. Of these, two thirds are online. "Selling boats for 6,000 euros on the internet was not a foregone conclusion", says the president, Emmanuel Bertrand.

Navexpo exhibition cancelled

The Navexpo trade and utility ship show is finally cancelled. Moved twice, the crisis of the Covid-19 was the reason why the 2020 edition was cancelled. Boating professionals, particularly from marinas, will have to wait until 2021 to visit the boats proposed by the shipyards for the maintenance of pontoons and deadbodies in Lorient.

Spanish yachting slows its decline

Figures from ANEN, the Spanish association of nautical professionals, indicate a slowdown in the decline of nautical activity. Registrations fell by 15 % over the period January-August, whereas the first quarter showed a decrease of 28.7 %. Boat rentals fell by 28% in the Iberian Peninsula.

Creation of a Polmar Earth Pole

The Ministry of the Sea has announced the creation in Brest of a national Polmar/Terre centre of expertise. The structure should enable the institution's expertise and steering capacities to be strengthened for the preparation and response to marine pollution from the coastline, with the aim of better preservation of territories and environmental protection.
