Southern Spars, Schenker, Raymarine, Zodiac Nautic and Big Ship have made the headlines in recent days.

Southern Spars closes South Africa branch

The New Zealand mast manufacturer Southern Spars, also present in Europe, the United States and Sri Lanka, will close its subsidiary in South Africa. The majority of employees are expected to leave the company by mid-December 2017. Southern Spars South Africa will then complete all outstanding orders in reduced manpower. The departure of Southern Spars is part of a difficult South African nautical market which has already seen many redundancies in major shipyards.

Schenker and Raymarine join forces

Watermaker manufacturer Schenker has partnered with Raymarine for remote product management. Raymarine's new touch screen control will manage the freshwater production of Schenker equipment. The interface box between the two systems will be sold as an option by Schenker with its watermakers.
