The Optimist Class has chosen the Crozon-Morgat Nautical Centre to host the European championships of the mythical dinghy in 2019. A first in France for 34 years and a great victory for the Breton club.

Application validated in Thailand

The board members of the Optimist Class, Promotion Optimist POP have appointed the Crozon-Morgat Nautical Centre to organise the European Optimist Championships from 22 to 29 June 2019. The decision was taken during a vote organized in Thailand, during the world championships of the dinghies class, by the International Optimist Association (IODA).

Back to Finistère

Since the 1985 edition of the European Optimist Championship, organised by the Société des Régates de Brest, no Optmist regatta of this scale has taken place in France. The best young sailors will return to the waters of Finistère for the first time in 34 years. Around 300 runners from 7 to 15 years old, coming from 40 countries and 4 continents, will compete in Douarnenez Bay.

Success of the Crozon-Morgat club strategy

The organisation of this international Optimist regatta is in line with the global strategy explained to us in a previous interview with Olivier Latin, the yachting manager. It is about attracting boaters and the international public to develop CN Crozon-Morgat and the region.

For this last operation, the club received the support of the FFVoile, the Ligue de Bretagne, the Club de voile de Bretagne and the town hall of Crozon. Several local private partners also supported the dossier.
