Lowrance celebrates 60 years of marine electronics

Lowrance Marine Electronics

Lowrance, world specialist in fishing electronics, celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2017. A story that the Navico group, now owner of the brand, wants to continue.

Foundation by M. Lowrance

Founded by Darrell J. Lowrance in 1957 in Missouri, the marine electronics company Lowrance has since been a pioneer in the field of fishing equipment. The success of the Lowrance brand was born from the launch in 1959 of the Fish Lo-K-Tor, the first fish detection system, indicating each fish and its depth. Extremely popular, it sold over a million Fish Lo-K-Tor between 1959 and 1984.

A history of innovation

After this success, Lowrance continued to innovate by regularly launching new electronic fishing equipment. The brand is proud to have launched the first sonar including a microprocessor, the first portable GPS at less than 500$, the first LCD screen integrating GPS, cartography and sonar...

Always looking for new products

Lowrance, part of the Navico group since 2006, also owner of Simrad and B&G, continues today in the development of marine electronics. The brand recently launched the 3D sonar StructureScan and various radar and multifunction display models.

Leif Ottosson, CEO of Navico wants to continue along the same path. "We are extremely proud of all the moments, all the new developments and millions of customers who have become lifelong friends throughout our 60 years of travel. Customers are our primary concern and that is what has made our longevity. We will continue to innovate. We will continue to simplify our products to make them easier to use and offer even more exciting options. It was a promise made in 1957 and it is a promise we continue to keep today."
