Goļot: Launch of the new sports sliding bay

Goļot sport sliding window

The sports range inaugurates Goļot's new sliding window concept. With a variety of finishes and locking in any position, it is attacking the open catamaran market.

The fruit of Goļot's new industrial policy

Taken over in August 2014 by Aluminium Ferri, a company specializing in aluminum hardware, Goļot has since embarked on a policy of redefining its products. The aim of Jacques Leblais, president of the Nantes-based company, is to develop the customer base by creating new products, building on what already exists. For the time being, the sliding bay market was divided between extremely simple basic products and customized stainless steel openings for superyachts. The sports bays are positioned between the two, offering a wide choice of finishes at limited cost.

A featherweight with a wide range of finishes

Made entirely from aluminum, our sport sliding bays guarantee the light weight required for high-performance sailboats.

Offered with a lacquered finish as standard, aluminium joinery can benefit from Al*Bright technology. Using a specially-developed aluminum alloy, a brushing and polishing process developed by parent company Aluminium Ferri produces a high-gloss finish that resembles stainless steel, while weighing considerably less. The technology has already won over shipyards such as STX in Saint-Nazaire for its liners, and Dufour for bathroom fittings.

Central locking in any position

Goļot also innovates with this product, proposing a mechanism which, with a single control point, locks the door in the open position, whatever the level of opening. This makes it easier to manage ventilation in the saloon.

Measured prices

According to Goļot president Jacques Leblais, the lacquered finish model is priced below the market thanks to the synergy with Aluminium Ferri, which enables economies of scale on the purchase of raw materials. The Al*Bright finish, on the other hand, offers a stainless steel finish at a reduced cost.

A good start to sales

Presented on a Nautitech 46 Open at the Salon du Multicoque de la Grande Motte 2016, the product is proving a real hit. Goļot won a new export order and numerous leads for the sport range.
