Exofleece, a waterproof suit guaranteed without neoprene

Rooster Exofleece suit, 100% neoprene-free guarantee

Rooster's Exofleece suit is an alternative to neoprene for light sailing enthusiasts. This innovative garment, which won the DAME Design Award, will appeal to allergic sailors.

DAME Design Award 2018

The British manufacturer of clothing and equipment for light sailing, Rooster, was awarded a DAME Design Award at the METS Trade 2018 in the category "Crew clothing and accessories" for its new Exofleece suit. It is a 2-part set combining a dungarees and a top, designed for dinghy sailing, and guaranteed 100% neoprene free.

Innovative materials for the Exofleece combination

Allergies to neoprene are more and more frequent and handicap light sailing enthusiasts affected by the phenomenon. To enable them to sail in good conditions, Rooster has used several alternative materials and fabrics, guaranteeing the same protection, comfort and freedom of movement as neoprene, without its disadvantages.
The dungarees use open-cell synthetic sponge reinforcements, free of the additives that cause neoprene allergies. It is sandwiched between a soft and flexible material lining and a flexible and resistant outer fabric made of a mixture of polyester and elastane. The final reinforcements in areas of maximum wear and tear have a total thickness of 3.5 mm.
The upper part of the garment is made with a 1.2 mm breathable membrane, offering the expected performance in terms of thermal regulation while limiting water absorption to prevent the sailor from cooling down in the breeze.
The Exofleece suit is sold at a price of £220, which is comparable to the market price for a specific offer such as this.
