Alliance of 2 specialists from La Rochelle in multihulls
Neel Trimarans Shipyard has announced the acquisition of its neighbour and subcontractor TechniYachts Pinta. While the former specialises in yachting on 3 hulls, the latter applies its composite know-how to the production of parts for Neel Trimarans, but also to the construction of Day One charter catamarans. All of the company's employees are retained. Thierry Demier, CEO of TechniYachts Pinta, will ensure the transition before leaving the company.

Thierry Demier welcomes an operation that strengthens the company. "When I took over the two companies TechniYachts and Pinta 7 years ago, the economic situation was difficult. By working on subcontracting rather than with a direct brand, the activity has got off to a good start and we have had a good order book for 18 months. When I met Eric Bruneel and he offered to buy the company while keeping the TechniYachts Pinta name and the type of business, I hadn't thought about selling. But I thought it was a good opportunity to consolidate this work. It's also in the interest of the team, which has grown."

Thanks to its new acquisition, Neel Trimarans adds 5700 m² to its hold on the median of the port of La Rochelle. This surface area is essential, while the success of the Neel 47 already fills the order book. The extension under construction is no longer enough, Neel explains.
The operation also makes it possible to secure the production tool, says Christian Moquery, administrative director and partner at Neel Trimarans. "TechniYachts Pinta is a supplier on several of our trimaran models, notably the Neel 65. With its capabilities, we no longer have a problem in the event of a supplier failure. We can repatriate the moulds and produce."

Synergies to be built
Christian Moquery outlines the planned development project for TechniYachts Pinta. "The yard has great know-how in day-charter catamarans. We wish to develop this activity of professional boats and refit it, and do less work to the unit. The objective is a more industrial activity. The two companies remain separate, even if a merger is foreseeable in the medium term. Synergies will come in administrative functions, but all employees are retained, with even hiring prospects. TechniYachts Pinta has a great history. Neel Trimarans is younger, but with a nice concept. We have the opportunity to do great things together."
