The Loop 650, a durable mini

The Italian company GS4C and its numerous partners, suppliers of fiber and resin, present a project of sustainable sailboat, on the principle of eco-design of "cradle to cradle" which allows the revalorization of 100% of the waste without loss of characteristic. Developed according to the Mini 650 rule, the boat built in basalt fiber and biosourced epoxy, must compete in the 2019 edition of the Mini Transat.

Cedrus kite foils

American company Adherend Innovations LLC unveils a patented device for designing and building carbon foils for kiteboards. Called Project Cedrus, it claims to reduce the weight and environmental impact of the product while improving its safety.

Sicomin's industrial bio-resin

Sicomin, in partnership with the Decision shipyard, won the Intelligent City category for the Infugreen 810 resin used in the construction of Sea Bubbles, the urban foil shuttles. Certified by DNV/GL, it offers, according to the manufacturer, the highest rate of recyclable material on the market, with characteristics comparable to conventional epoxy resins, while allowing the production of large volumes for the industry.

Composite decks for commercial marine

Two projects for passenger and cargo ships are also featured in the Marine category. The Croatian shipyard Uljanic JSC developed a composite deck for a ro-ro vessel carrying 7,000 cars. By replacing steel with composite, the SIEM Cicero reduced its fuel consumption by 2.1T per day.

Saertex and the Meyer Werft shipyard are presenting a composite deck for a 110-meter river liner that has been certified by the stringent Central Commission for Navigation on the Rhine. By lightening the ship, it allows operation during a longer period of the year.
