Sale of yacht builder Arcona

Arcona 380, from Arcona Yachts, bought by Najad

The Swedish shipyard Arcona was bought by its compatriot Najad. The two yacht builders announce commercial and industrial synergies.

Repurchase of the construction site

Najad AB announced on 1 March 2018 that it had purchased Arcona Yachts AB for an undisclosed amount. Founded in 1971, Najad has produced over 2,000 cruising yachts since its inception on the island of Orust off Sweden. Arcona, which today produces about fifty boats a year for the cruise racing sector, has launched almost 1000 of them since the launch of the first Arcona 32 in 1982, on the island of Cat in Gustavsberg.

The new group employs 90 people for a turnover of over 100 MSEK, or 9,9 M €.

Retention of Marks

The Najad and Arcona brands, installed in the nautical landscape, will last. They will develop, produce and market their yachts independently. The management and administrative department will be located at Najad's headquarters in Henan. Jörgen Ottosson, Managing Director of Najad, takes over the management of both companies. Torgny Jansson, former owner and CEO of Arcona takes the lead in business development.

Synergies

Each of the managers sees in this transaction positive synergies for Najad and Arcona. "Together we have a very broad knowledge and product portfolio. With Torgny Jansson as business developer, Arcona's legacy will be managed in the best possible way," explains Jörgen Ottosson. Torgny Jansson is taking on this mission. "New models and a strengthened sales organization will improve service and customer experience. For many years I built the Arcona family and would continue to safeguard it and our strong brand."
