Click&Boat, the French boat rental company attacks Florida

Port of Miami

The French start-up Click&Boat, specialist in private boat rental, opens an office in Miami. The lessor has great ambitions in a buoyant American market.

A promising market

According to the study on which Click & Boat relies, boating is worth 10.3 billion dollars in Florida's economy and there are 87.3 million sea trips per year. The US state has 889,550 registered pleasure craft, 95% of which are transportable and less than 8 metres in length. When you consider that this segment now accounts for 50% of Click&Boat's business in France, you can understand why Florida is attracting start-ups. The market looks promising, especially since the rental offer for this type of non-habitable unit is limited on the Internet. The target is 400 boats available by the end of 2017.

A 1st implantation

The company opened its first office in Miami in February 2017. A first employee will be supported by two new recruits during the summer season. A great vacation destination for Americans, Florida is a good test for overseas settlement. The site wishes to deepen its knowledge of the market in this state before attacking the rest of the USA. The legislation, specific to each state, makes the process more complex.

International ambition

This is a new step in the company's desire to become an international reference, says its co-founder Edouard Gorioux. "The opportunities for a French startup to take a global market by overtaking its foreign competitors are ultimately quite rare, we hope to make Click & Boat an exception and a model to follow

Fundraising

The company has already completed two rounds of financing to reach 1.7 million euros in a market where dozens of sites offer an apparently similar offer and where American players are already strongly established.
