727 Sailbags, 10 years of sail recovery

Bag 727 Sailbags

727 Sailbags celebrates its 10th anniversary. From old sails, the company has become an economic success and is now pushing the walls.

A second life for sails

727 Sailbags was created in 2007 based on a concept: to give a second life to used sails after their sailing. The first bags were created with the sails of the 7.27 m Farr of the family of Jean-Baptiste Roger, one of the founders. He gave his name to the brand which has since developed the concept with great success.

From bags to ready-to-wear

Faced with the popularity of bags, Jean-Baptiste Roger and his two associates, Anna Beyou and Erwan Goullin, have developed new concepts during these 10 years of activity. From handbags to travel bags, clutches, wallets and toiletry bags.

Since, 2016, the company has moved away from the pure use of sails to also offer a ready-to-wear line. The link with sailing is that of numbers and zig-zag seams, without falling, according to the brand, into the clichés of the sailor.

Expansion and development

The company currently has 34 employees. It achieved a turnover of 2 Meuros in 2016, for an estimated recovery of 6.3 Meuros. 727 Sailbags has recycled 55,000 m² of sails. Distribution takes place in 150 outlets in France and 50 abroad. 727 Sailbags has 3 own stores in Lorient, Vannes and La Baule.

The development continues and the evolutions have already started in 2017. The entire production will move to new premises of 1400 m² in Lorient. A new concept store will be set up in the former premises of the submarine base.

The growth target is high, at 23% for 2017. 727 Sailbags aims to reach 60 employees and 500 sales outlets by 2020
