Paul Henderson is a candidate for the presidency of the International Sailing Federation and draws on his experience. No revolution, but stability in the program.

General Assembly

The election of the President of World Sailing will take place during the General Assembly of the Federation, in Barcelona, between 4 and 13 November 2016. It brings together the 700 delegates of the member national institutions every 4 years. Paul Henderson defends Canada's colours against outgoing President Carlo Croce and Kim Andersen.

Maintain stability

Paul Henderson, 82 years old, was the dean of the election and already president of the ISAF between 1994 and 2004. Like all candidates, he insists on the necessary transparency in terms of finance and governance. If the Olympic Games are a challenge for sailing, they must not make us forget the other major events in this sport. Any decision must be made taking into consideration the effect on the sailing community as a whole.

For Paul Henderson, it is urgent not to do anything until the International Olympic Committee has completed its reflection process for the 2020 Olympic Games. "Many consider the Olympics to be the summit of competitive sailing. Sailing is not a pyramid but the Himalayan chain, with many peaks to climb, all important for the health of our wonderful sport."
