Fareast, an economic sportsboat offer in France

Fareast 28 R

Now distributed in France, Fareast wants to democratize the racing yacht. Corporate regattas, canvassing of clubs and limited fares should give rise to one design.

Competitively priced sports boats

The Fareast yacht range is composed of boats between 18 and 31 feet. Launched in 2002 thanks to Optimist's manufacturing license by ISAF, the Chinese shipyard, based in Shanghai, now offers high-performance cruise monohulls, designed by Simonis-Voogd. The sailboats are made by infusion. The Fareast 28 R is recognized as a one-design class by World Sailing.

Distributed in France since 2016

Camaret Yacht Service has become the importer for France of Fareast yachts since August 2016. The brand was already distributed in England, Switzerland and Northern Europe, where around thirty boats are already sailing.

Race to make yourself known

As Yves Le Couteur of Camaret Yacht Services explains,"It's like bathing in the sea. There has to be a first one who throws himself into the water so that the others follow, especially when it is fresh. All the prospects who have tried the boat are enthusiastic, but they wait until a small fleet is formed to launch." Consequently, the yard participates in the various regattas in France to make the boat known on the water. The objective is to have a small fleet at the Grand Prix de l'Ecole Navale.

Seducing clubs

The match race and the one-design fleet race are the main programmes of the Fareast 28 R. Camaret Yacht Service therefore wishes to embark the sailing clubs on board. The loan of boats is envisaged to help promotion within clubs.

Two of the yard's boats will be used this season to organise challenges, which will show the keelboat's capacity in match racing, between two crews of 5 people.

An attractive price

Last but not least, the Fareast price, even if it should be revised to follow the euro-dollar parity, remains reasonable for the one-design yacht market. Yves Le Couteur says,"We're 25 to 30% cheaper than a J Boat.

Fareast, a new player in sportboat in France, is therefore a project to be followed in the coming months.
