From rigging to antifouling, the Soromap group supplies nautical professionals in many fields. To accompany its growth, it expanded its premises and worked on its image.

A historic family group

Soromap has been part of the French nautical landscape since 1969. Created by Mr Florin, it has remained in the family fold ever since. It is now organized around four entities:

  • SPV (Soromap Paints and Varnishes), specialized in marine paint, antifouling and cleaning products.
  • VMG (Soromap Voile Mât Grigement) which designs and sells masts, laser cuts fabrics for sailmakers, designs and distributes crimping tips
  • Soromap Tunisia, which produces crimping bits and castings and plasturgy parts
  • AMB, partner of the group without capital ties, which manufactures small series boilermaking and mechanical parts.

The group currently has a turnover of ?15 million and employs 110 people, including 70 in Rochefort, France.

Service Integration

In all its activities, Soromap integrates all the product life stages. The company has R&D offices specialized in each field and ensures production, logistics and distribution. Soromap SPV also produces paints as a subcontractor for European distributors.

Mast activity on the rise

Soromap has already doubled the capacity of its Rochefort mast production unit a year ago in response to the increase in sales to ?4 million. An expansion project is being launched again in 2017 to support growth. Soromap VMG sets the standard in the 35 to 55 foot cruising catamaran market, equipping among others the Nautitech, Bali and the new Lagoon 42 ranges. VMG masts are also found in monohull construction sites such as RM, Pogo or Alloy.

The aftermarket, which today represents only 10% of VMG Soromap's activity, is a privileged development axis for the company, which relies on its responsiveness to heavy goods vehicles in the sector.

Growth in painting and maintenance

Soromap SPV's activity is not in rest and represents 6 M € of turnover. To meet the demand for paints and maintenance products, the company plans to expand its Rochefort plant in 2018.

A public notoriety to be built

The Soromap group is 100% focused on BtoB and lacks notoriety among the general public. The company has created a new graphic charter for all its brands in order to make itself more easily identifiable.

The increase in sales will surely help to make the brand known to individual boaters.
