METS, an exceptional vintage for the DAME Design Award

The Sea-Tags safety bracelet, nominated for the DAME Design Award

The jury of the DAME Design Award has announced the list of nominees for the 2016 edition of the prize dedicated to nautical equipment manufacturers. With 67 products selected, the 2016 vintage looks set to rise.

An imposing tray

With 117 applications submitted by marine equipment manufacturers from 26 countries around the world, the DAME Design Award continues to arouse the interest of manufacturers.

The jury selected 67 innovative products among the proposals. 57% were selected, which reflects for the organizers the quality of the proposed equipment. Indeed, there is no limit to the number of nominees, only quality is decisive.

For Bill Dixon, chairman of the DAME Award jury and owner of Dixon Yacht Design"The fact that we nominated so many products this year illustrates the high quality of the objects presented to us. It is also very encouraging to see the wide variety of proposals, even within each category, submitted by companies ranging from the smallest to the largest boating companies around the world

Facilitate navigation

Still according to Bill Dixon, the proposed products accompany the necessary evolution towards a simplified navigation practice. "Outside the boating world, we have many gadgets and products incredibly easy to use. It is good to see that products for the marine environment are often more intuitive than they used to be. With a broader and less experienced customer base, a system is easier than reading a detailed manual. This year's appointments give good reason to believe we are moving in the right direction."
