General Assembly
The election of the President of World Sailing will take place during the General Assembly of the Federation, in Barcelona, between 4 and 13 November 2016. It brings together the 700 delegates of the member national institutions every 4 years. Kim Andersen will face outgoing President Carlo Croce and Canadian Paul Henderson.
Democratizing sailing and the federation
At 59, Danish Kim Andersen is the youngest candidate. He is banking on his career in the private sector to impose a new, more efficient and transparent management of World Sailing. For Kim Andersen, the issue of the presence of sailing at the Olympic Games must be approached from the point of view of the popularity of the sport and not only from the technical point of view of the support. By a virtuous movement, a popular sail with many members will have more chance of being retained by the International Olympic Committee and will gain in popularity by that still.
It wishes to support the development of sailing through local action in all federations, particularly towards young people, on all media, from windsurfing, kiteboarding to ocean racing.
