Urgo, new sponsor of the Solitaire du Figaro

The Solitaire du Figaro in Bordeaux

We will now have to say La Solitaire Urgo Le Figaro. The new title sponsor offers long-term visibility to this mythical regatta at the dawn of the Figaro Bénéteau 3 era.

Boarding for 3 years

OC Sport Pen Duick, organiser of the Solitaire du Figaro, has announced the arrival of the Urgo group as its new title partner. The specialist in wound care and consumer health, already one of the official partners in 2016, becomes the principal in 2017 and is committed to the next three editions (2017-2019). They will now be called La Solitaire Urgo Le Figaro.

For Mathieu Sarrot, Events Director at OC Sport Pen Duick:"The Urgo group will allow us to develop the event until the arrival in 2019 of the new Figaro Bénéteau 3 created by the Bénéteau class and shipyards. 2019, an anniversary date when we will celebrate the 50th edition of the race and complete a first cycle with our new Partner

End of a cycle

Asked about the end of the partnership with Bompard, the main sponsor for 5 years, Mathieu Sarrot, told us that he had informed Eric Bompard that he had a proposal for a new partner for 3 years. While Bompard had announced in the summer that he wanted to think until the autumn, he did not make a satisfactory new offer OC Sport Pen Duick.

In a letter published by our ocean racing colleagues, Eric Bompard regrets the end of this partnership.

New identity for the race

On the occasion of the change of partner, a new logo, a new visual identity and a new website (www.lasolitaire-urgo.com) were presented.

A laboratory and a showcase for Urgo

Present in many sports, sailing is for Urgo an ideal environment to test its products in extreme physical and climatic conditions (adherence, antifriction or pain relief tests...).

Urgo will supply its products to the skippers of the Solitaire du Figaro and will conduct health prevention campaigns with the general public while involving local health professionals during the various stages of the race. By the 2016 edition, the company had already launched"SOS Cuts", a self-adhesive, buoy-shaped band against bleeding.

For Pierre Moustial, General Manager of Urgo Group,"This partnership represents an excellent vector to make Urgo Group's major innovative projects known, in wound treatment, healing, compression but also family medication or connected health
