After difficult years, Dometic's marine sector in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region is growing again. Sales increased by 30% in 2015, boosted by two major contracts including a record sale of air conditioning equipment in Italy. It will be the largest system of its kind manufactured by Dometic.
Figures carried by the made-to-measure
While the number of boats built is down on previous years, the increase in the size of mega-yachts is developing the tailor-made market. Dometic thus achieved good sales for its air conditioning and sanitaryware products.
The figures for yachting also offset losses in the professional marine and offshore sectors, affected by high fuel prices.
France and Italy at the forefront
While the traditionally strong UK market for Dometic suffers from the high short pound, France and Italy compensated with high growth.
Positive prospects and new products
The Marine division maintains high growth objectives. They are carried by new products introduced in 2015, such as the WAECO CRX refrigerator-freezer, which won the DAME Award for its versatility, or Titan titanium condenser air conditioners to prevent corrosion.
